Letters to the Editor

By Heather Kelsall

A quick question regarding student Internet access policies. I would rather, as a Librarian/Information Manager, provide some policy direction before one of the other school departments. Dies anybody have a definite policy on Internet activity in place that you're willing to share?

Dear Arthur

La Salle College, Perth, has taken a stance with the emphasis on students being responsible for their own actions. Their Internet Users Agreement was published in Connections, Issue 15, on page 5. CIRCIT has recently completed a research report on 'Management of Student Access to Controversial Material on the Internet' available at http://teloz.latrobe.edu.au/circit/schome.html, which may provide some interesting solutions. I'm sure others have been active in this area and look forward to the responses.
